Return Trip - Regala Park
Regala Park.
The St. John the Baptist Parish Parks & Recreation Department’s mission is to: “Enhance the quality of life for all parish residents by providing well maintained parks and facilities, outstanding programs, as well as activities for the community.”
--
Regala Park sits off of Airline Highway (Airline Highway 61) in Reserve, Louisiana. It has been in the community for decades but has recently undergone several improvements. The park is bordered by rows of sugarcane to the north and east. The Port of South Louisiana’s Executive Regional Airport borders the park on the west.
Much of the community that Regala Park serves is on the southern side of Airline Highway. It’s an interesting mix of deeply historical neighborhoods, chemical transportation companies and most notably, Marathon’s Garyville Refinery. The refinery was commissioned in 1976 and is currently the fourth largest in America. It sprawls across approximately 3,500 acres of land, much of which was previously/currently a part of the San Francisco Plantation.
