CFB South: 2025-26 Regular Season Recap

Alabama

Alabama

The Crimson Tide finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 10-2 overall record. Their average differential per game was +16.75 and they scored 33.2 points per game and allowed 16.5 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest wins were a 73-0 shutout of Louisiana-Monroe and a 56-0 shutout of Eastern Illinois. 

Auburn

The Auburn Tigers finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 5-7 overall record. Their average differential per game was +6.08 and they scored 26.75 points per game and allowed 20.66 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest wins were a 42-3 win over Ball State and a 62-17 win over Mercer. Auburn started things off with success before hitting a midseason rut and then turning things back around to closeout.

Heads Up

Alabama beat Auburn 27-20 in the Iron Bowl to close out the regular season. The programs’ overall series record is 52-37-1, in favor of the Tide. They’ve met up seven times since, 2019 and Alabama has won the last six of those games. 


 Arkansas-Louisiana

Arkansas

Arkansas finished the 2025-26 regular season with an underwhelming 2-10 overall record. Their average differential per game was -0.91 and they scored 32.9 points per game and allowed 33.8 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest wins were a 52-7 win over Alabama State and a 56-14 win over Arkansas State. Those were games one and two of the regular season and the Razorbacks didn’t find another victory before they called it quits for this year. 

LSU

The LSU Tigers finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 7-5  overall record. Their average differential per game was a slim +3.5 and they scored 21.8 points per game and allowed 18.3 points per game by opponents. The team’s most notable win was a 56-10 rout of Southeastern (LA) in game 4. Head Coach Brian Kelly was sacked following the 49-25 loss to Texas A&M and the Tigers did find some success to close things out for 2025-26. 

Heads Up

LSU beat Arkansas 23-22 in game 10 of the regular season. The programs’ overall series record is 44-23-2, in favor of the Tide. They’ve met up five times since 2021 and LSU has won the last four of those matchups. 


Kentucky

Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 5-7 overall record. Their average differential per game was -3.41 and they scored 23 points per game and allowed 26.41 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest wins were a 48-23 win over Eastern Michigan, a 38-7 win over Florida and a 42-14 win over Tennessee Tech. They never found consistency and the season was defined by short stretches of feast/famine.    

Louisville

Louisville finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 8-4 overall record. Their average differential per game was +9.08 and they scored 30.16 points per game and allowed 21.08 points per game by opponents. Some of the team’s notable victories were a 50-17 win over Eastern Kentucky and a 40-17 win over Bowling Green.   

Heads Up

Louisville’s most decisive win of the regular season was a 41-0 shutout of Kentucky during Rivalry Weekend. The programs’ overall series record is 19-17-0, in favor of Kentucky. They’ve met up four times since 2022 and Louisville has walked away from the last two games with wins.    


Mississippi

Mississippi State

Mississippi State finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 5-7 overall record. Their average differential per game was +1.33 and they scored 30.5 points per game and allowed 29.16 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest win was a 63-0 shutout of Alcorn State. It was a good start to the season but things did not trend well through the stretch.      

Ole Miss

Ole Miss capped off a historical 2025-26 season with an 11-1 record. Their average differential per game was +17.16 and they scored 37.25 points per game and allowed 20.08 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest wins were a 63-7 thrashing of Georgia State in the season opener and a 49-0 win over The Citadel. The team’s only regular season blemish was a 43-35 loss to now SEC Champion Georgia. 

Alas, none of that was enough to keep Lane Kiffin. 

Heads Up

Ole Miss beat Mississippi State 38-19 during Rivalry Weekend. The programs’ overall series record is 67-46-6, in favor of Ole Miss. They’ve met up four times since 2022 and Ole Miss has won the last three of those matchups. 


Oklahoma

Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 10-2 overall record. Their average differential per game was +12.5 and they scored 26.41 points per game and allowed 13.91 points per game by opponents. The team notched some very size-able wins early on in the regular season:

·      38-2 over Illinois State

·      42-3 over Temple

·      44-0 over Kent State

The season’s back stretch was not as kind to the Sooners.

Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State finished the 2025-26 regular season with a tragic 1-11 overall record. Their average differential per game was -19.16 and they scored 14.16 points per game and allowed 33.33 points per game by opponents. The cowboys pulled of a 27-7 win over Tennessee-Martin in the season opener but didn’t find any tangible success in the following 11 games. The margins got slimmer in the final three games but losses were the 2025-26 constant. 

Heads Up

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State haven’t played each other since 2023, and Oklahoma State won that game 27-24. The programs’ overall series record is 90-27-1, in favor of Oklahoma. 


Tennessee

Tennessee

The Tennessee Volunteers finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 8-4 overall record. Their average differential per game was +12 and they scored 40.75 points per game and allowed 28.75 points per game by opponents. The team notched some very size-able wins throughout the regular season:

·      45-26 over Syracuse

·      72-17 over East Tennessee State

·      56-24 win over UAB

·      56-34 win over Kentucky

·      42-9 over New Mexico State

Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 10-2 overall record. Their average differential per game was +17.5 and they scored 39.41 points per game and allowed 21.91 points per game by opponents. The team notched some very size-able wins throughout the regular season:

·      45-3 over Charleston-Southern

·      31-7 over South Carolina

·      70-21 over Georgia State

·      45-17 over Kentucky

The season started off strong for Vandy and although they hit a lull through the middle they finished it out strong. 

Heads Up

Vanderbilt beat Tennessee 45-24 during Rivalry Weekend. The programs’ overall series record is 79-34-5, in favor of Vanderbilt. They’ve met up five times since 2021 and this is the first of those recent matchups that Vanderbilt has won. 


Texas

Big 12: Baylor

Baylor finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 5-7overall record. Their average differential per game was -1.5 and they scored 31.08 points per game and allowed 32.58 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest wins were a 42-7 win over Samford and a 30-3 win over UCF. It was a trend of mixed bags for the Bears. 

Big 12: Houston

Houston finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 9-3 overall record. Their average differential per game was +6.5 and they scored 28.32 points per game and allowed 21.83 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest wins were a 27-0 shutout of Stephen F. Austin and a 35-9 win over Rice. Similar to Baylor, it was a trend of mixed outcomes. 

Big 12: TCU

TCU finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 8-4 overall record. Their average differential per game was +5.58 and they scored 30.75 points per game and allowed 25.16 points per game by opponents. The team notched some very size-able wins throughout the regular season:

·      48-14 over North Carolina

·      42-21 over Abilene-Christian

·      45-23 over Cincinnati

Mixed bags in the big sense, though, for the Horned-Frogs.

Big 12: Texas Tech

The Texas Tech Red Raiders finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 12-1 overall record. Their average differential per game was a remarkable +31.91 and they scored 43.16 points per game and allowed 11.25 points per game by opponents. Their closest victory was a +22, 29-7, win over BYU. Tech’s sole loss during the regular season was a 26-22 defeat at the hands of Arizona State in game 7.

SEC: Texas

The Texas Longhorns finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 9-3 overall record. Their average differential per game was +9.83 and they scored 29.58 points per game and allowed 19.75 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest victories were a 38-7 win over San Jose State and 55-0 shutout of Sam Houston.

SEC: Texas A&M

Texas A&M finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 11-1 overall record. Their average differential per game was +14.41 and they scored 36.33 points per game and allowed 21.91 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest victories were a 38-7 win over San Jose State and 55-0 shutout of Sam Houston.

The team notched some very sizeable wins throughout the regular season:

·      42-24 over UTSA

·      44-22 over Utah State

·      31-9 over Mississippi State

·      49-25 over LSU

·      38-17 over Missouri

·      48-0 over Samford

ACC: SMU

The SMU Mustangs finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 8-4 overall record. Their average differential per game was +12.25 and they scored 32.91 points per game and allowed 20.66 points per game by opponents. The team’s biggest victories were a 38-7 win over San Jose State and 55-0 shutout of Sam Houston.

The team notched some very sizeable wins throughout the regular season:

·      42-13 over East Texas A&M

·      34-10 over Stanford

·      45-13 over Boston College

·      38-6 over Louisville
